PREPARING A CAKE RING

 

I'm going to show you how to prepare a cake ring for baking.

Now, I tend to use cake rings for all my pastry applications because it's very versatile. I can use it for a mousse. I can use it for a baked cake, rather than buying something with a base on it which is very difficult to remove a mousse cake from.

 

So to line it particularly for baking, we treat it differently while we're making a mousse cake. I'm gonna line it with some baking paper. So here are some simple steps to show you how:

 

Take the size of the cake ring on the cake ring that you're going to use. Place it down on some baking paper using a gray LED. We just mark where the ring sits and then with scissors, we just cut it slightly larger.

 

Then what we do is we cut into that line so just cut pieces, just over a centimeter apart. Just up to that line but not beyond. Now that we've got that prepared, we're going to set that aside.

 

Take the size of the cake ring on the cake ring that you're going to use. Place it down on some baking paper using a gray LED. We just mark where the ring sits and then with scissors, we just cut it slightly larger.

 

Then what we do is we cut into that line so just cut pieces, just over a centimeter apart. Just up to that line but not beyond. Now that we've got that prepared, we're going to set that aside.

 

We need to cut some paper, some baking paper to go around the side of the ring. Now depends what you're making sometimes we need the paper to extend, a little bit higher than the ring and sometimes it's okay to be exactly the same height.

 

So rather than measuring the ring, I'm just going to fold over the sheet of paper. And then just with a small knife, I'm going to cut that along that seen.

 

So we have a strip and our base. I'm next going to line the ring with some vegetable oil spray just to ensure that the paper comes up off easily once were finish baking. So I just sprayed it in one spot and then just wipe it around.

 

Firstly, we've placed in the base into the ring. Place it gray LED side down and press it in so that the line sits on the edge of the ring. Make sure you've got it right into the corners, then we put our paper in on top.

 

Now we're to put our cake batter or cheesecake mixture in there ready for baking.
