Covid-19 Baking Activity at Home with Your Kids

Hi. Today I’m gonna be showing you how to make a cake. It’s for someone special. First, we’re going to sift together the dry ingredients.

How To Bake a Cake - Kids Edition

First we have the salt then a teaspoon of baking soda, two teaspoons of baking powder, and lastly, the flour. Now for the fun part, sift.

Baking Soda - 4 Cups

First we’re gonna mix together the sugar and softened butter. Now you’re gonna beat it until it’s smooth and not long. Add the vanilla.

Sugar

Now you’ll add the four eggs. Now we’re gonna add two cups of buttermilk. Now, it might look a little weird but it will be all right once the flour goes in.

Mix Well Again

Now that the batter is mixed, I’m gonna pour it into this nine-inch pan that I’ve already sprayed. Now we’ll tap it on the counter to get rid of any air bubbles.

Heart Pans

I put a layer frosting in the middle so I can stack this one on top of it. Now it’s time to frost the cake. Make sure to get all the little spots too with a spatula.

Chocolate Coats

Now, it’s time to decorate. She’ll love this. I’m using vanilla icing and now for the finishing touches, sprinkles. Tadaaah!

Finished Product

Maybe she won’t notice if I just take a little piece. Oops. It looks like I have to make a new cake.
