Our Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans are superior, with flavor and aromatic qualities that make our vanilla beans the most popular and sought after vanilla variety. The bourbon vanilla is rich, dark and creamy with an overwhelming sweet, buttery aroma.
These vanilla beans come from a fully organic culture, 100% natural without pesticides or synthetic herbicides, they are fleshy, supple and soft with chocolate and floral scents with hints of caramel. Our Bourbon vanilla beans have a high moisture content. You'll notice that there are no breaks or splits within the vanilla beans; another indication of extremely high quality. Our beans are 16 to 18 cm (6" to 7") long.
Buying vanilla beans in bulk is a great value. Our Vanilla beans are vacuum packed to preserve the high moisture content for a longer period.
Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans are well suited for many baking recipes, drinks, and desserts.
Basic Preparation
To use a vanilla bean, cut each end off from the vanilla bean and slice through the vanilla bean lengthwise, remove the paste from inside the vanilla bean and use as needed.
Use vanilla seeds to add a gourmet visual cue to ice cream, custards and crème brûlées. Add to coffee grinds for vanilla-flavored coffee, or add pods to sugar to make vanilla sugar
These Madagascar vanilla beans are great for homemade vanilla extract and work in practically all recipes.

Unpacking
Our vanilla beans are shipped in vacuum pack bag. We suggest to open the package only at usage. We recommend to remove the beans from the package after opening. Keep in mind that you might see a brown liquid throughout the vacuum sealed packaging. Do not be concerned for this liquid is simply oil squeezed from the vanilla beans during the vacuum sealing process.
Storage
After opening the vacuum pack bag, we recommend to wrap your vanilla beans in either wax paper or plastic wrap and store in an airtight glass or Tupperware container. Be sure to squeeze out as much air as possible from the container to prevent the vanilla beans from drying out.
You should never store your vanilla beans in the refrigerator. Refrigeration will dry out your beans and excess moisture can promote a particular type of mold specific to vanilla. We recommend storing your airtight container in a cool, dark place such as a pantry or basement.
Vanilla beans should be aired regularly. Simply remove the beans from the container every few weeks to circulate the air for approximately 10-15 minutes.
Life Span
Vanilla beans that have been stored correctly in ideal conditions can last upwards to two years. We recommend buying quantities that you intend on using within 6-8 months.
Dry or Moldy Vanilla Beans
If your vanilla beans have dried out, you can re-hydrate them in either milk or warm water for several hours. If your vanilla beans appear to contain "frost", do not mistake this as mold. Frosty Vanillin crystals can develop on vanilla beans as the vanillin inside the bean migrates to the surface while the beans dry. These crystals appear shiny and are edible. If you do suspect actual mold, please discard the vanilla beans.
